MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20:

Q7.1: What is MEGAM.O.L.E.®20?

A: MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20 is ECD’s breakthrough profiler (hardware/software) offering. It features 20 channels measuring at increased resolution, withstanding higher temperature, detachable I/O Pod (smart module), and offers the unparalleled MAP software.

Q7.2: Should I delay purchasing a SuperM.O.L.E.® Gold and wait for MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20?

A: That depends on your needs. MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20 is NOT a replacement product for SuperM.O.L.E.® Gold.

If you need:

  • More than 7-20 channels of TC's
  • 2-way RF communication with your Profiler
  • Quick-charge battery
  • Multi-Profile storage (pre-download)
  • Removable “I/O POD” provides MAP Brainpower to stay with a Golden Board
  • ‘OK’ button for Operators to invoke a Go/No-go “Right on the production line” decision based on pre-programmed Engineering logic (rather than via the Target 10-OK software)
  • DON’T HAVE TO DOWNLOAD MOLE to get a go/no-go decision
  • Greatest available accuracy…then you may choose to wait.

If, however, you need 6 channels or less, you may be wise to consider the SuperM.O.L.E.® Gold with an upgrade to the MAP for SMG software to receive the primary software benefits of the MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20.

Q7.3: Why should I upgrade to a MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20 profiler?

A: Upgrade is a likely option for those who:

  • Need “mega” channel sampling (20)
  • Need the greatest way to manage the TC mess created by 12+ channels
  • Need a thinner and/or narrower form factor due board width or oven constraints
  • Need the enhanced benefits of the MAP software
  • Need the most sophisticated profile/SPC analysis software on the market
  • Would like the most economical way to provide that software to their existing SuperM.O.L.E.® Gold profilers
  • Want to know they have the finest profiler on the market
  • Like the coolest stuff available

Q7.4: The software appears to be locked up when trying to communicate with the MEGAM.O.L.E.® Profiler.

  • The USB driver may be faulty. Refer to USB Driver to download the driver and detailed installation information.

M.O.L.E.® MAP Software:

Q8.1: What is MAP?

A: MAP is an ECD-specific acronym for “Machine, Assembly, Process”.

  • Machine = Reflow Oven
  • Assembly = Printed Circuit Board
  • Process = The thermal “profile” specified by the Solder Paste manufacturer for proper reflow.

At ECD, we believe it our mission to help the Process Engineer to:

“Optimize … Machine, Assembly and Process”, and so have named our new line of software to reflect that critical blending.

Q8.2: What are the KEY new benefits of the new software?

Q8.3: What is the difference between M.O.L.E.® MAP & M.O.L.E.® MAP for SMG Software?

A: M.O.L.E.® MAP is included in MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20 Kits which incorporates features specifically designed to interface with the MEGAM.O.L.E.® 20 Profiler. While M.O.L.E.® MAP works with both profilers, the M.O.L.E.® MAP for SMG was sold as a new software upgrade to be used with SuperM.O.L.E. Gold Profiler only.

Q8.4: Does it come free if I buy a new SuperM.O.L.E.® Gold?

A: Yes. Your new SMG comes with a single seat of M.O.L.E.® MAP Software. Additional seats are available for purchase.

Q8.5: Why do SuperM.O.L.E.® Gold users have to pay for M.O.L.E.® MAP software, when it has always been free in the past?

A: Although the M.A.P. software was created for the new line of thermal profilers (MEGAM.O.L.E. & V-M.O.L.E.), ECD took the extra effort to make it compatible with the SuperM.O.L.E. Gold . Licensing the software allows us to make the many benefits available to legacy M.O.L.E. users, WITHOUT being forced to upgrade hardware.

Some of these benefits include:

  • Greatly enhanced customizable data extractions, and report formatting capability
  • Data/graphics/set-up configurations can be quickly formatted into a single page report template, and then printed as a .pdf file for e-mail attachment.

Q8.17: Will release of M.O.L.E.® MAP, be in foreign language, especially Chinese?

A: Calendar year 2008

The MAP software Ideal Customer Profile is an Engineer that is presumed, for now, to be conversant in the international language of engineering…English. For users who may not be conversant in English, the “Target 10-OK” feature of the MAP software boils down the Engineer’s “decision logic” to either a Go/No-go decision, and/or a series of 4 dial indicators showing clearly what key segment of the Profile might be causing the Profile to be “unacceptable”. Users would then follow standard escalation protocol for their manufacturing facility.

Q8.18: If a customer has 1 copy of M.O.L.E.® MAP, how many PCs can they use it on? if one, how to transfer form one to another?

A: MAP is licensed “per-seat”, implying one user/3-Authorizations:

  • 1 PC/Laptop (office)
  • 1 PC/Laptop in Production
  • 1 PC/Laptop for work-from-home.

Q8.19: Where can I find out more technical details about the software?

A: Visit web page: http://www.ECD.com/map

Q8.20: Is there a Viewer for other users to read data?

A: There are two easy ways to view M.A.P. Software files:

  • Data/graphics/set-up configurations can be quickly formatted into a single page report template, and then printed as a .pdf file for e-mail attachment.
  • One-button Excel export feature allows all data tabs to easily be sent to MS Excel

Q8.21: How come I get a 6001 Install Shield error during installation?

A: M.O.L.E.® MAP sofware uses a common third party software called Install Shield for software installation. The error 6001 is an Install Shield error caused by mismatched dll (dynamic link library) files.

  • Navigate to the following directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime
  • Inside that directory you will find a file folder named 10. Simply delete the 10 folder to correct the problem.

When install shield is run again, it will restore the correct .dll files and recreate the 10 directory.
